Hi. My name is Jen.
I am here to document my quest for an authentic, sober existence. I have been to the edge, and I didn’t like it there much. My sobriety date is August 15, 2013.

Welcome Jen! You’re in the right place! Like Paul said, the online sober blogging community is a great resource. You’ve taken the first step in admitting you have a problem. Now, I just encourage you to have an open mind and a willingness to change. Sobriety is a gift!
Thank you so much! I am working hard to keep an open mind each and every day. I like the idea that sobriety is a gift- that is a great way of thinking about it. Thanks for reading and commenting! π
I really appreciate your candor in this post. I’m approaching 100 days sober for the first time and I think it’s good to admit that sometimes you think about and even plan to have a beer…and that you will still be supported if you do. But it was almost like you caught yourself thinking, “im allowed a slip” then decided, nah, don’t wanna do that. For me some days I go back and forth a few hours before moving on. I’ll say, let’s try to eat or go relax first and if that doesn’t work then I can have a beer. Then usually I don’t need it
Oops this was meant for your most recent post, not your about me section
Ha. π
Thanks, Beth! Congrats on almost 100 days! Hopefully that type of thinking goes away at some point, right?! It is so exhausting! I think living a certain way really makes a difference for me- as low stress as possible- but that can’t always happen. Sigh. Thanks for commenting. π -Jen
Welcome to this new and wonderful life and to the blogging world. You’ll never meet a greater group of people then those that write on these walls.

Thank you so much, Sherry. You are very kind. I am glad to be here. -Jen

Jenn I hope you are okay. I have enjoyed reading your blog and it has helped give me insight into drinking. I have a loved one who is an alcoholic.
Very best wishes to you,
Ann
Thanks Ann! I am doing really well and appreciate your kind words. Blogging hasn’t fit into my life well lately as I have gotten busier being happily sober, but I still read blogs and am so grateful and thankful for this community. xo
